On October 16, 2017. the Arts Facet facilitated “Stress Busters” an educational and fun event with Women of the Way (WOW) students at St. Petersburg College Midtown campus. The afternoon started with an ice breaker activity (it was soooooo much fun), followed by a lecture and discussion regarding stress (its causes, the physiological impact to our bodies and how to reduce it in our lives). Link Marilyn did an exemplary job. Her presentation was cogent, concise and engaging!!!
Next, the ladies put her advice into action by participating in stress reducing activities (e.g., coloring, putting together a puzzle, conversing with each other, smiling, laughing, etc.) while listening to music provided by Link Ann. It was truly a relaxing experience. Later, we heard a sound!! What was it??? Could it be…..????? Yes, it was “The Wobble” (being played from Link Joy’s speakers) and, as is customarily required, everyone started dancing! Link Gladys can really dance! It was a great experience. Thanks again to Links Joyce, Joy, Gladys, Ann, Bonnie, Marilyn, Evyan and Kim!!!
Women on the Way (WOW) is a resource and support center at St. Petersburg College developed to help women succeed in college. In addition to meeting some basic needs for members, WOW offers opportunities for leadership, friendship and community service. The ladies of the St. Petersburg (FL) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated act as mentors and provide monthly activities and speakers for WOW.
